maybe the life is a bitch thing isn't working
I'm feeling like my idea isn't going over as well as I'd hoped (see post directly below). So I'm thinking maybe YOU want me to start. Okay.
I'm from Toledo. Any of you from towns like that? The kind of town you mumble out of the side of your mouth when people ask where you're from, the kind you vowed from a young age to never settle in (after you got out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE)? But then you hear someone else NOT from said town, someone living in a place that sounds cool, bash your town and kind of insinuate that unsophisticated, uneducated people live there? And then you are like, What? Toledo isn't that bad. It has a ton of bookstores and a university and people from there are smart (Gloria Steinem) and funny (that guy from MASH) and successful and fashionable (Katie Holmes). Need I say more?

Whatever feels like home is the place to be. You are cracking me up with the change in direction after one post. I love that about you because really what good is it wearing that whole "woman" title thing if we can't change our minds?
I don't care what you write about as long as you write. Here's a deal: You write and I'll read. That makes me very happy (and you did say this blog is about me, right?).
yes if I am nothing else I am... changeable (not exactly the word I'm looking for but I'm too lazy to find the thesaurus right now). Thanks for the comment hrh!
Verna is that you?? I mean I know it's Verna but are you the Verna I used ot know from my Literary Mama column?? If so, where you been??
And that makes you eligible for a prize!
You too, Katie!
And hrh, did I already promise oyu one?
I see the problem could be organization of all this. Who gets the prizes? Where are the prizes? Don't worry, I'll figure it all out!

You're a gifted writer, Gail, as well as a healthy, about-to-be-published author, hopefully enjoying life. So why complain? Maybe that's why the blog theme isn't working?
Also having read Matters of Faith -- which is beyond genius --, I appreciated the fact that Chloe lived through the trauma/drama and got on with her life. Hmm, sheer genius or the reminder that life IS good? ;)

Hi Larramie, good to see you here! While I agree life is good, I believe complaining about life is good, too. In Yiddish we call it kvetching and it's encouraged! Good for the soul. Good for appreciating the good things!
But I do appreciate your comment and opinion. Please come back!

Rachel! You doll you! I'm putting oyu on the prize list!! And I'm adding your link to my blog roll!!
Yup, I can relate. I am from St. Louis and love LOVE LOVE it. When I hear larger towns bash St. Louis, I immediately retort with things like - did you know we have one of the best zoos in the country and IT IS FREE? Did you know the Anheuseir-Busch is headquarted there (and did you know I have no idea how to spell Anheuseir?) Now I live in Peoria, IL. It is not so bad, but it is not so great, but I get defensive when people bash it regardless.
KEEP BELIEVING
KEEP BELIEVING
angie! welcome! you made me laugh! can I send you a prize? Seriously, welcome to the site. And did you know that Toledo is the glass capital of the world?(Send your address to my e-mail and I'll send you something!). Oh and come back!
