my first live appearance and I'm nervous excited nervous

So this Saturday I am speaking on my first panel EVER at the Pilcrow Lit Fest in Chicago and I keep flipping back and forth between excitement and terror and find myself obsessively thinking about my hair and what to wear (I know it sounds very superficial and really I'm not that superficial as a rule but when I imagine people staring at me on a panel...yikes!).

Other than the hair/clothing worries, I am really excited to meet Amy Guth and Katie Schwartz and Leah Jones and all those other fabulous writers descending in Chicago this week.

If you don't know about Amy, well she is an absolute dynamo who conceived of and organized and basically made Pilcrow happen. Plus she's tall and gorgeous!

So, If you happen to be in or near Chicago, I would LOVE to see you at Pilcrow. Find me and we'll talk. Okay?

Comments:
Thanks, you! I can't wait to meet you, either!

Not that I don't also worry about what to wear every time I leave the house, but you're fabulous and gorgeous and you'll be great!

Have fun!
And btw, granola recipe now posted on my blog -- let me know how you like it.

Amy! Thanks for saying that!

The granola recipe... I'm heading over there right now!

You'll knock 'em dead, darling! Just smile that fabulous smile; that'll do it every time...

Obviously I REALLY MEANT IT!

Sounds terrific - have fun! I suppose you'll be talking about your book?

Gail, I wish I could be therewith you. I'd sit in the front row and listen with bated breath. I did my first panel last month, was also terrified, but then I realized the people there all shared my passion for words. Once I realized that, I wasn't a bit nervous.

You're smart and sassy and utterly captivating. It will be fun.

Hi Kristy! Thanks for the triple replies I DO know you really meant it now!

Monica, yes, I will be talking about books and also about writing and the road to publication (since it's a writers festival). I'll also be handing out bookmarks and maybe some other swag (if it arrives today!).

Amy, you're a doll! Thanks for saying that...

Good luck tomorrow!

You were fantastic! So good to meet you in person!

Hi Leah! So great to meet you! You and Amy ran the best lit fest I've ever attended. Thanks for stopping by here...
