what was sex and the city really about?
I have to admit even though I know the movie is going to be awful, I'm going to see it tonight. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with SATC and those four women. While I didn't condone their obsession with shoes and men, I did adore their bond with one another. And I think that's what drew me to the series, the honest portrayal of female friendship and the fact that they were all single and strong and lived in NYC (where I had once lived) and of course were unabashedly seeking sex. For me living in Madison, Wisconsin with a husband and three kids, it was the fantasy path I didn't choose and sometimes wondered why...

I am one of those very few people of this generation who's never seen a single episode (which probably would make my mother proud). I didn't have HBO back then. But, I think I'd have felt like you do--watching it somewhat vicariously since they'd chosen a different path and loving the friendship aspect of it.
You know, while Madison is no NYC, if you've gotta live somewhere else, it's definitely in my top 5!

I could never remotely relate to it (I was poor, poor, poor when I lived in NYC), but I love the writing about the women's friendships. That's what kept me coming back, and why I'm going to the movie with a group of my best friends Sunday.

The story of Carrie,Samantha,Mirand and Charlotte is captivating,funny and very interesting,since is about men and women nowadays,and their relationship's problems and inner questions. I recommend to everybody who wants to have a good time,specially women, who are going to laugh a lot, and see many of the situations in common with our real lives.:)Catch all eps Watch Sex And The City Free here...
